In recent times, the private equity environment has been as energetic as ever – an asset class that continues to see a high velocity of transactions, healthy fundraising, as well as high value exits and returns to investors. That said, there are a range of challenges that PE players need to keep an eye on, including increasing regulatory scrutiny and potential disruption caused by continued geopolitical uncertainty. Going forward, the outlook for PE looks positive; there is a distinct sense of optimism that bodes well for fresh opportunities and deal flow, despite global pressures. However, with record amounts of dry powder on hand, fund managers will need to work hard to deploy capital in ways that generate expected returns.
